I decided quite a while back I wanted to makeover the spare room. I had done it a couple of years ago but never quite liked how the room was arranged so a few months ago I started rearranging the furniture and trying the bed in a different position and this then of course led on to a whole Pink and Grey bedroom makeover.  I had got a lot of inspiration from Pinterest and had a whole board dedicated to it. The room was already pink (you can see all the before pictures in this post) and so I added a dark grey feature wall behind the bed and chose B&Q’s own matt paint in the shade Grey Slate. Its a lovely colour and really good finish too.  The bed was a new purchase and I chose one with a very low headboard to give that very scandi no headboard feel when you prop up the cushions.

As a feature on the wall I opted for a thin picture ledge from IKEA  with a mix of framed prints. The prints bar the Bond one which my husband bought at the Bond Exhibition are all from Etsy.  I love Etsy for things for the home like prints, they have an incredible choice of style and designs. Some purchases including the Chanel print and the incredibly cute camera print were both digital downloads which is brilliant as you can print them out yourself at home and frame. I printed out more of both to put up in my blog office too as I loved them so much. The LOVE print and Paris Gold foil print were printed by the seller and posted which is lovely too as the Paris print especially not only has a stunning foil finish which you just can’t achieve at home but also it came packaged so beautifully. I would definitely recommend this seller in particular.

I also found on Etsy some pretty zig zag fabric to make cushions with. I chose fabric as I have a wonderful friend who is sooo good at making cushions and she very kindly made me three. The fabric cost £14 including postage and there was enough for 3 standard size cushions which is such good value. If your not a sewer Etsy have some gorgeous ready made cushions too. My gold dot cushions were also made by my friend using some gold polka dot fabric I found on eBay. The larger cushions were from BHS and are a lovely dusky pink velvet. The bobble throw is also BHS. They are one of my fave places to go for homeware especially cushions as these were only £8 each!!

My cute gold and marble bedside table is actually an IKEA hack and I’ll be showing you this and two other ways you can make over this bargain little table on the blog next Sunday. The little gold glass box is from the H&M home range and is one of my favorite pieces in the whole room. Inside is just a simple single flower head.

Quite a few of the elements in the room have had some form of DIY to them. I sprayed cheap IKEA frames white and gold for my picture shelf and added gold stripes to the white frame with a bit of clever masking tape. I also gave several of my candles and ornaments a gold makeover with a simple spray of enamel paint including the frame of my husbands favourite picture over the fireplace, just to help it tie into the theme.
The pink lampshade I gave a gold makeover with the cunning use of some gold sticky back foil. It was very time consuming to get it neat but totally worth it. The cute hexagonal mirror was a steal at The Range for £7.99 and I gave the wood frame a prime and a spray gold to make it look just that little bit more luxe.
The chest of drawers are a cheap set from IKEA which had sat in another room. I gave them a lick of paint which was a mix of white eggshell and the grey feature wall colour. Six gold cup pull style handles from eBay give the drawers a more expensive look and the whole thing a new lease of life don’t you think?

The biggest makeover was the floor. Previously it was pine boards which were quite scruffy. I decided to paint the whole floor white and I’m so glad I did, its made the room lighter and brighter and also look much bigger. This was the longest task with the whole floor needing sanding and three coats of white applying but I did the floor in two half’s and it only took a few days. My top tips would be to use a very good quality hard floor paint and also to try using a paint pad instead of a brush. Not only was this three times as fast but I think it gave a much neater finish.

So that’s my Pink & Grey Bedroom makeover. I hope you like it, let me know. I’ve listed below as many of the elements as I can. I also did a mini makeover on our bathroom which I’ll also be sharing on the blog very soon.

Happy Sunday all.

Ahh, this room is so beautiful! The shades of grey, pink and gold go together perfectly and I love of the little details, like the patterned cushions and the marble bedside table. The whole effect is so sophisticated – I can’t believe this is your space room, it makes my ‘junk room’ seem shameful!
