Last week I headed off very early to London to attend a private viewing of the Alexander McQueen Savage Beauty exhibition at the V&A. It was one of Lipton Ice Tea’s Daybreaker events which are a series of free Summer morning events all happening across London. This one included not only a private viewing of the exhibition but a talk from an Alexander McQueen fashion expert.

On arrival we were greeted with a gorgeous glass of Lipton Ice Tea peach flavour. It was so incredibly yummy and refreshing, I’d never tried the peach one before and I was instantly a fan, so much so that I bought 3 bottles of it when I got back home later that day.

After a quick drink we headed into the exhibition. As you can’t take photos inside I can’t share any, but I’m glad about that as it really needs to be seen in the flesh. The exhibition was split into themes and featured so many of Alexander McQueen’s famous pieces and collections. Every section of the exhibition was beautifully presented with phenomenal displays including projection, video and music. One room in particular was ceiling high packed with stunning pieces including accessories created for McQueen’s shows by the likes of Philip Treacy. There were so many amazing things to take in I had to take a seat and really take my time to look.

The exhibition really did move me. I know that might sound corny but I genuinely felt so much emotion whilst there and I think anyone who is a lover of fashion would be hard pushed not to. Highlights for me were seeing his Plato’s Atlantis Collection from 2010 which was so incredibly stunning up close and such amazing colours and detail.

I’m so happy to have seen the exhibit and I did listen to quite a bit of the talk by Judith Watt which gave so many interesting insights into McQueen, how he started and why he created the kind of tailored fashion that he did.
If you do get the chance to go to the exhibition I really do recommend, it it was genuinely inspiring.

If you fancy attending another Daybreaker event you can apply to win the free tickets on the Lipton Daybreaker website. There are some really cool events still to happen between now and the 10th of July, including a Sunrise cinema event and a 100m Slip and Slide at Kings Cross which sounds AMAZING!!!!

Thanks so much to Lipton for inviting me and giving me the chance to see this phenomenal exhibition.

Oh, I really want to see this exhibition before it ends! But always feel too lazy to go on weekend, and too busy during the week :( I really need to motivate myself and do it, or I’ll live to regret it!
