The highlight of my whole London Fashion Week this season was the beautiful Matthew Williamson show. Held in a stunning location – the Great Hall at One Great George Street, with amazing chandelier ceiling and a backdrop of pink ostrich feather trees I was so excited to take my seat and see what my favourite designer had in store for SS15.
*
The collection had a real 70’s feel about it with over sized sunglasses, bright chiffon blouses and wide leg trousers. The floral motifs were very tropical with hibiscus flower and palm prints on many of the dresses and separates. Colours were tropical too with bold pinks and yellows and sea greens and blues.
*
The embellishments were so detailed and beautiful. From hand beaded flower details on skirts and mini dresses, to 3D sequined flowers on a blue tweed jacket; a huge array of feather details on necklines and on waists, the embellishments ran through so much of the collection. A stunning pink maxi dress with feathered waist was a definite highlight of the collection.
*
The gowns were the moment I was waiting for. Many of the maxi length flowing dresses carried on the hibiscus theme with amazing movement to the chiffon skirts as they came down the catwalk. I loved the asymmetric wrap shape to the upper part and the mini length with long chiffon train to the skirt..
*
I had so many favourite pieces. As I huge huge lover of culottes (I own 5 pairs!) I of course adored the hibiscus print silk culottes and embellished top, such a great whole outfit. I also thought the embellished tweed jacket was truly stunning and was so wowed by it I almost missed snapping it on camera.
*
The makeup too was lovely, with exotic bright colourful eyes and soft dewy skin and the hair kept the 70’s feel with soft waves and volume.
*
It was such an amazing show and an absolute dream to attend, now its also a dream to own a piece from this stunning collection.
