I'm back with another DIY and this time its a DIY Spot Dalmatian print jug. This DIY was inspired by a jug I spotted on Emma's (@Milkteef) instagram. I messaged her straight away and asked where it was from but sadly it wasn't available anymore. I loved the way it looked with pink peonies in and so I decided I would make one myself. I bought a similar jug in the sale from Debenhams but I've found this very similar jug or keep your eye out in the supermarket or homeware stores if you want one exactly like this shape.
You'll need porcelain paint and a nice soft brush. I've used an oval ended one which gives a nice shape when you press it onto the jug. This technique is so easy to do and it really doesn't have to be neat or perfect in fact the more random the design the better, plus I love it to have hand-painted look so don't worry about it being precise. My biggest top tip is have a practice on a bit of card to get your shapes right and to decide what sized dots you want to do. When you are painting keep standing back and looking at your design so it stays even across the whole jug.
Here's what you need to do.
you will need
JUG | BLACK PORCELAIN PAINT | SOFT BRUSH | OVEN

STEP ONE
GIVE THE JUG A GOOD WASH AND DRY.
TIP A LITTLE OF THE PAINT INTO THE LID OR A POT.
APPLY DIFFERENT SHAPED AND SIZED DOTS TO THE JUG.
WIPE OFF EXCESS ON KITCHEN TOWEL
STEP TWO
ONLY PAINT ONE SIDE & LIE YOUR JUG OR VASE ON ITS SIDE SO YOUR DOTS DON'T DRIP
LEAVE TO DRY FOR AN HOUR OR SO THEN FLIP AND PAINT THE OTHER SIDE.

STEP THREE
MOVE YOUR BRUSH IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS TO KEEP THE DOTS LOOKING RANDOM AND MAKE SURE TO GO RIGHT UP TO THE EDGES.
LEAVE TO DRY OVERNIGHT
STEP FOUR
HEAT YOUR OVEN TO 150 DEGREES (OR AS PER PAINT INSTRUCTIONS)
BAKE IN THE OVEN FOR 30 MINS AND THEN TURN OFF OVEN AND LEAVE TO COOL INSIDE.
FINISHED!
FILL WITH YOUR FAVOURITE FLOWERS AND ADMIRE YOUR HANDIWORK

And that's it! Finished!! I love how simple this DIY Spot dalmatian print jug is and how it looks so pretty for your dining table or I have mine on our kitchen island. You could also use this technique to paint mugs or cups and the same method would apply! The baking is really important as it means you'll be able to wash the item, although I would always stick to a hand-wash and not risk the dishwasher but by all accounts it is fine if you bake it.
