Spare Room ideas | Grey, Green & Gold Decor

We've been slowly working through the rooms in our new house and although we've done lots in other rooms the Spare room has been a bit neglected. Spare rooms often become dumping grounds and ours was pretty much that for the first few months. We haven't 100% decided what to do with the room but by adding a few soft furnishings and a few other touches we have given the room a bit of personality. The general colour scheme is green and grey with some touches of gold too. Lots of the bits are from one of my fave homeware site; Amara and their trend section; The Greenhouse Trend. I love the pale greens and blues of this trend and lots of the pieces fit perfectly in with the colour scheme and give this plain white room some much needed interest. So in collaboration with Amara I'm going to show you some Spare Room ideas simply done with home accessories.

There are quite a few DIY elements in this spare room makeover and many that were items we had from the old house given a new lease of life. We'd had this IKEA bed for YEARS and it had lasted us through two house moves. I decided to give it a makeover and painted it with my favourite Annie Sloan chalk paint in the shade Paris Grey. I love the finish on this paint and its made the bed look sooo much better. I also painted the Lloyd Loom style chair in the same paint and a Laura Ashley mirror in it too. The bedside tables are bargain £9 IKEA side tables which I made over with gold spray and marble contact paper.

For a pop of colour under my simple white bedding I got these ochre yellow Primark sheets and pillowcases. I love the flash of colour when you peel back the covers. The scatter cushions are this gorgeous textured crochet cushion and the really pretty embroidered leaves cushion and more texture added to the bed with this knitted blanket.

On the opposite side of the room we have a matching bedside table and this gorgeous table lamp in gold as well as a couple of books stacked up for interest. I also love this artificial cactus plant which looks so good in my white planter next to the bed. I really like the natural element in the room but without the pressure of keeping it alive.

And that's it!! A little look around our spare room. I hope its given you some spare room ideas. I love how its looking for now and as its just home accessories that are making the room it will be so easy to change when we finally decide what to do with the room.
