What to pack for a Transatlantic Cruise

August 30, 2017 3 Comments

I'm spending my whole day today packing for my very exciting trip on Thursday. If you haven't see on Instagram I'm off on a 7 night transatlantic cruise with Cunard for Transatlantic fashion week and as I have spent a LOOONG time planning what to pack I thought I'd share my thoughts on What to pack for a Transatlantic Cruise.

So a bit about the cruise itself. I'm so excited to have been asked by Cunard to join them on board for Transatlantic Fashion Week. This 7 night cruise is full of fashion shows, exhibitions, audiences with special guests, hosted dinners plus it arrives into New York for New York Fashion Week. This is my first ever cruise and what a first cruise to go on!!! I'm also very excited that the designer special guest on board is Julien Macdonald who I am a big fan of, so I can't wait to see his catwalks.

With so many events in the daytime and dinners and balls in the evening this trip has been a real challenge to pack for, especially with the fact I'll be on a boat and I have to keep to a 23kg return flight limit. I've tried really hard to pack slightly within a colour palette and to pack lots of items that can mix and match with each other.I need to pack for three formal nights which include a 20's ball and a Black & White ball as well as several semi formal nights where it's still good to dress smart.

First up I'm, packing ALOT of t shirts. I love them, they are so easy to wear, great for layering and I'm a big fan of adding a pop of colour with a simple t shirt. My fave is my brand new pink Bella Freud t shirt which will look really nice for daytime with white trousers, or my jeans or a skirt which I'm packing too. If I want to dress up the look I've got a gorgeous pair of statement pink earrings which I think will look so pretty.

Trousers wise I have packed quite a few pairs. As you know I am much more a trousers person than a skirt or dress so I've packed a mix of casual white cropped trousers, black culottes and tan chinos and then a couple of pairs of smart black trousers for the non formal nights when you need to still dress smart.

I plan to again mix and match with my different tops and shoes to create lots of outfits mostly for the daytime with t shirts and flats and then with smarter tops and heels for the evening.

I'm packing a mix of style tops including my new Spotty top which is to go with black culottes and black flats for the Julien Macdonald catwalk show and I have some fab statement earrings to go with the look too.

I also have this cute yellow tie top which is to create a smarter day look for one of the daytime events. I love it with my embroidered flats which really pick up on the yellow in the top.

I also love how the Striped top with the little flared detail looks with jeans and my Cream coat I'm taking as I'll need one thats waterproof for wandering on deck.

Even though there might be balmy temps here in the UK and in NYC it will be chilly on the deck of the ship, especially in the evening and also from the air con inside.

So along with a chunky knit coatigan and a simple black cardi I have packed some nice colourful knitwear including this gorgeous pink cashmere jumper and my Zara pearl embellished jumper which is so easily dressed up for the evening.

Shoes have been the hardest thing for me. I'm not a huge heel wearer but I'm hoping that with my combo of embellished flats, some casual trainers and espadrilles I'll have my days very easily covered. At night I'll have a choice of black heels as well as pink and nude heels both with not too high heels.

DRESSES

navy dress | fishtail dress |black dress

For my three formal nights I have some gorgeous dresses. First up a stunning high neck black dress for the Black & White ball which I can't wait to wear with my red shoes and matching bag. It fits like a dream and I love the high low design. Next up is my stunning bargain dress that you might have seen on my instagram stories. Its a pink off the shoulder dress with a fishtail skirt and it was a bargain £40 in the sale and also fits sooo nicely. I'll be wearing it with black heels and a black clutch which actually is an Olympus bag that fits my camera in!! Last up for the 20's night is a dress I had already chosen before I found out the themes of the formal nights but actually it has a very 30's feel to it so not too far off! I'll be wearing this navy dress with my embellished pink bag and my favourite new pink heels which are velvet and were another bargain in the sale.

Some other essentials I've packed is a wrap pashmina for the evening which can also double as scarf for on deck as we head into NYC which at 5am is supposed to be a real sight, a really stunning pair of pyjamas which have the most vibrant design on them they are SO COOL and some swimwear too to make the most of the on deck and indoor pools and spa. I also will be packing lots of statement earrings and plenty of jewellery to dress up each outfit. I plan to keep my makeup to quite a small capsule collection and I might write a post about what I take later next week.

Hopefully all of this will fit in my suitcase ha ha. But I can't wait to wear all of these outfits and it will be so nice to not wear jeans so much too. I'm so blummin excited and so happy to be heading to New York again almost exactly a year later after my Buble trip although I am only there for one day but I'm still so happy to be going back.

Keep an eye on my instastories for all the action of my trip and I will be vlogging the whole trip too so make sure you are subscribed to my Youtube Channel.
