I wouldn't say I was a "girly" girl. As you know I don't often wear dresses and you don't usually see me in very very cutesy outfits but that doesn't mean I don't mind the odd bit of frilliness. If like me you want to inject just a little bit of ruffles into your outfit then a cute frill shirt is the way to do it. You can pair it with laid back denim and trainers like me for a really casual outfit or wear it with skinnies and heels for a night out. I just love how a shirt with a little bit of interest to it can really liven up your outfit. I'm styling up two of my favourite shirts right now for this Two Ways to Wear Frills. Hopefully proof that you don't need to be afraid of the frill!!
I love this pink floral Boden frill shirt. The pink and blue combo of the floral pattern is so pretty. It has frill details on the front and cuffs which if you wear it with a blazer like I have just pokes out and adds that hint of a frill. This would also look really nice with a jumper over so you could just see a hint of frill too.
I've worn it with it unbuttoned but it also looks really nice worn buttoned up to the top too. Such a pretty print for Spring too.
Next up is this FIND striped shirt with the most amazing ruffle sleeves. This shirt's detail is all on the arms so you don't want to be hiding this under a blazer. This shirt has so much movement and interest and although its described as red striped its much more candy pink I think. It got a shorter length than the Boden so I think looks best tucked in but again perfect to dress up a pair of jeans or wear dressed down like me with trainers.
When the temperature finally really heats up this shirt will look gorgeous worn more open with a vest under and denim cut offs. This is quite a dramatic ruffle shirt but I still think its very wearable and I love the fit of it too ( I chose a medium).
I've linked below some of my other favourite frilly pieces if you need more ways to wear frills and I'd love to know which of the two shirts is your fave? Are you team floral or team stripes??
