Kimpton Eventi Hotel New York review

Kimpton Eventi Hotel new york review

I realised I never got round to sharing a full review of the hotel we stayed in for our trip to NYC and as it was such a good one I thought its never too late so here is my full Kimpton Eventi Hotel New York review.

I take the matter of choosing a hotel pretty seriously. I'm one of those people that researches for hours to try and find the perfect place to stay. With New York the key is choosing a hotel that suits the location you want to be in. I didn't want to be right near Times Square as I had read it could be loud and very hard to sleep. The Eventi Hotel sits in a perfect location. Its situated in the area of Chelsea on the west side of New York which is quieter but still only a stones throw from the Empire State building as well as a short 15 minute walk to the Highline and Times Square. On the way to Times Square were loads of places to eat and shop (cough big H&M cough) and we found that we walked pretty much everywhere so the hotel was a perfect base.
To get there we decided to jump in a taxi from the airport which was around $60 each way (Jan 2015) including taxes however it is a short walk to Penn station so you can always train to there from the airport and then walk.

I chose the Eventi Hotel based on not only the communal areas like the bar and restaurants (which I'll come back to) but the fact the rooms had some of the biggest square footage you can get in New York for such a good price. Its a well know fact that lots of New York hotel rooms are so small and not much room to even get round the bed. At the Eventi New York even the basic King room has 275 square foot on offer which is so spacious. We paid for an upgrade to a Deluxe King room for an extra amount of square footage which is well worth the few extra pounds. Also as a note we booked the Kimpton Eventi Hotel direct on their website which worked out so much cheaper than as part of our holiday package. Its well worth checking their website for deals as we got one night free for booking 5 nights.

The Eventi Hotel is part of the Kimpton group of hotels so its also worth checking out the Kimpton twitter account. They often have offers like the social password which if you give on check in you get a little treat. We got some cute snowflake cookies as our treat. On arrival the staff were so lovely and actually offered us an upgrade to a corner view room if we were happy to wait a little bit. We were more than happy to prop up the bar for half an hour and sample some of the Eventi's cocktails and it was so worth the wait. Our room was a stunning City View King room which was a corner room up on the 14th floor with a view of the Empire State building. The rooms have incredible floor to ceiling windows which give you the most amazing view. The rooms are pretty modern and simple but really smart and another winning point (especially for us bloggers) is the to die for marble bathroom. I mean I pretty much booked the Eventi based on this bathroom its that pretty. The bathroom was complete with rain shower which was gorgeous after a long day walking round NYC and fluffy robes to snuggle up and relax in. The Eventi also helped us out by making the room feather free as we are both allergic.

The Eventi hotel really looked after us and even treated us to cupcakes and fizz on our first night there, though both of us were so beat after travelling we hardly drank any at all but it was such a lovely touch. The hotel has a really eclectic and kind of cool Shoreditch vibe about it and I loved all the communal areas too. We ate the first night in the Italian restaurant which was nice but portions a bit small for us hungry travellers. However on the last night we ate at the grill restaurant and both had steak which was great and a really brilliant buzzing atmosphere but up in our room on the 14th floor you couldn't hear a peep so sleep wasn't a problem.

Kimpton hotels also have Wine hour when wine is completely free. We seemed to miss it every day as we were out and about exploring but such a good idea. Also you can sign up to Karma rewards to earn benefits when you stay at Kimpton hotels.

All in all we were so happy with our choice of hotel and I would very happily book to go to the Kimpton Eventi New York again. I'd really love to go to NYC again and would love to go when it was warmer so we could check out the Eventi roof terrace bar which looks dreamy and have a cocktail. If you are after a hotel in a great location with spacious rooms and a cool vibe then definitely take a look at the Eventi.
