Today's post is a Floral Embroidered Top Diy. I spotted this gorgeous embroidered top in New Look and thought how easy it would be to recreate this piece at home. This DIY is so simple and quick to do, plus its bang on trend for Spring cheaper than the High Street price. This method uses a non iron on applique but of course you can buy ready to iron on ones which is even easier!! You'll also find links to other floral appliques at the bottom of the post.
For those of you that don't fancy the DIY option then you can opt for BUY and shop lots of embroidered items at the end of the post.
you will need
Plain top | Floral Applique | Iron on Hem | Scissors | Pins | Needle and thread
Decide if you would like to use the whole applique. I decided to trim mine slightly.
Put the top on and lay the applique where you would like it. Look in a mirror to judge.
Pin the applique into place, being careful not to stab yourself obviously.
Remove the top careful and lay flat ensuring the pins are still in place.
Remove lower pin and lift applique. Trim some iron on hem web and place underneath the applique.
Place a clean tea towel or pillowcase over the top and use a hot iron to melt the web and glue the applique in place.
Work your way up the applique, removing pins and laying more pieces of web and ironing.
Once main applique area is glued down you can secure it properly by hand sewing around the outside in black.
