A few people asked what I did about makeup on my wedding day, what I used and who did it, so I thought I would write a little post about it. I had to wait till after our wedding was featured on Boho-Weddin Blog before I could post my post, you can see our wedding blogged here.

I was really lucky that a friend of mine who is ace at makeup offered to do mine on the day. I bought all the products myself which was great as I got to keep everything and use them all after the big day.

My dress was ivory with gold embroidery so I knew I wanted a soft brown smoky eye and a rosy lip. I wanted it to be really natural and flawless.
*
To start with I used Benefit’s Its Potent Eye Cream, which I’d got as a sample when I bought some other bits and loved. It truly works and made sure my eyes were unpuffy and no darkness. To counter any remaining darkness I used a dab of Benefit Erase Paste which has a peachy colour which corrects blue/dark tones and I like to use it under my base rather than on top.  I also primed my skin with Benefit’s Porefessional Primer which smooths out pores and teams really well with my base which has a tendency to highlight pores.
*
Base was really important to me as I wanted a flawless look in my photos. I tried a sample of Estee Lauder’s Double Wear and fell in love. Although its a full cover foundation and heavier than anything I’ve used before it felt lovely to wear and truly lasts all day. It does contain SPF and so does “ghost” the face when flash is used so we also used a little Rimmel BB Cream dabbled over the top just to soften the finish and help this.
*
We powdered lightly using my go to powder Rimmel Stay Matte and bless my friend she was on hand all day with this to touch up any shiny patches for photos.
*
Eyes were primed with Benefit’s Stay Don’t Stray which again I got as a sample and used on the day. It brightened and primed my eyelids a treat. We created a soft smoky eye using the Naked 2 Palette and soft liner using Maybelline Kohl Liner.
I’d invested in the Naked 2 palette over a year before the wedding when it was on offer on a group buy site and with some serious restraint had kept it in the box until my first trial. Brushes were the Real Techniques Core Collection which I’d asked for at Christmas and again didn’t use these until the trial. Both of these were great buys and I use them both every day since the wedding.
*
Eyes were finished with Benefit’s They’re Real mascara which truly is one of the best mascara’s I’ve ever used and made my lashes look so long. I had hoped to wear falsies but just didn’t feel comfortable but this mascara defined my lashes so well I didn’t need fakes. However, word of warning it does take some effort to get off at the end of the night.
*
My brows were softly filled in using the Benefit Brow Kit which was also a great investment and I continue to use it alot. My cheeks were given a soft rose glow with Estee Lauder’s Blush in Sensuous Rose , which had a lovely bronze rose colour in its palette, but comes out a lovely pink on the face.
A slight highlight was added to my cheekbones and brow using a Rose Shimmer powder I got in a beauty box ages ago.
My lips were also Estee Lauder in the colour Dune Rose and was a natural pink shade, quite matte and lasted really well.
*
Finally my perfume was Vera Wang Princess which had a lovely sweet scent and such a pretty bottle.
*
I’m really glad I invested in some good quality products and  although it might look like I’m the Benefit queen, I actually never used any of their products before this, but was very impressed.
I would recommend the following as great wedding day products
*Benefit Porefessional
*Benefit Erase Paste
*Estee Lauder’s Blush & Lipstick
*Rimmel Stay Matte powder
