Emergency Wedding Dress – Outfit post

August 8, 2011 1 Comment
Me and the man went to a wedding on Saturday in Suffolk and I had already planned in my head what I would wear. I had planned to wear a long Warehouse Floral maxi dress which would be lovely and summery for an August wedding. I wore it last Summer to a wedding around this time with gold sandals and a cream jacket (which I later dyed terracotta see post )
Well the Suffolk weather had other plans and after looking at the forecast for Saturday which said 19 and cloudy I decided the maxi would be incredibly unsuitable so I moved to plan B which was a short black chiffon dress from Peacocks.
This dress was £12 and is so cute. It has a bow print all over and lovely ruffle details. I wore it to a low key wedding reception last year and it looked perfect. So this was my back up dress – but I only have a black jacket and was worried I may look like a funeral goer so I dragged the man into town on the morning of the wedding for a last minute attempt to buy something else.
I bought a dress and a headpiece in a record 22 minutes and for the record price of £13.40 in total. The dress was a short pink frilled shift dress from TKmaxx in the sale at £10 and the jewelled headband was £3.40 in the Monsoon sale.

I teamed the dress with art deco vintage earrings, a Vintage Deco handbag (see post here) and my good old trusty Primark pumps which I bought recently
I also wore the above mentioned dyed jacket too – it has become the best £5 Asda blazer ever
Here’s how it all looked.
Dress – TK Maxx
Jacket – Asda (Dyed)
Handbag – Vintage (See previous post)
Headband – Accessorize
Pumps – Primark
Earrings – Vintage
Nails – False painted with Barbara Daly Pink Iridescent
Now a year ago if you’d said I’d wear a pink outfit I’d have told you to p*** off ha ha. But I was so happy with my ensemble and it transitioned well from day to night too.
The wedding was lovely so relaxed and friendly and we both had a great time. Here’s some pics of some of the day.
The girl in the bottom right picture was so cool, her name was Emily and she was on our table for the Wedding Breakfast. She had a stunning deco style Beaded dress on from ASOS and a vintage tassle necklace worn dropping down her back. Her hair and makeup were also 20’s style and she looked so beautiful – definitely my favourite guest of the day.

Hope you like the Emergency outfit – or do you prefer one of the other 2 choices???
