Now that the house extension and decorating is finished its now time to start trying to add some personality to the house and especially to the walls. The house is a new build each room has simple flat white walls. We've come from a Victorian semi with fireplaces, stripped floors and lots of alcoves and unique details so its such a change for us both. We've didn't want to paint every room so we've kept the majority of the walls white, adding character and colour through furnishings and details. This is my favourite way to do it as its then so easy to transform a room if you change your mind in the future. I really wanted to add some art to the wall and so headed straight for the incredibly popular prints site Desenio. Read on to see what prints I chose and how I incorporated them into my design plans as well as a Desenio discount code.
I knew I wanted three large frames to sit above our sofa in the living room and three bold prints that would bring some colour and tie in with each other and look like a set. The Desenio site is great for this and has lots of inspiration photos which can help inspire you for which prints to choose that go with each other but also helping you to pot together a gallery wall. I actually screen shot the prints I liked and played around in Photoshop with which prints looked nice next to each other. In the end I chose a pink cloud print which has the flash of pink I wanted but in a really abstract way, a leaf print which ties in with all the real plants I have in my living room and adds a little bit of colour too.
For the final of the three prints I wanted a text print and I hunted for ages on the site for one that had some meaning for me. In the end I chose one that speaks of positive thoughts which not only has a really poignant meaning to me but has the simple text look I wanted.
To house the prints I chose three large gold frames which you can also get from the site and come in all the sizes to fit Desenio's prints.
I love the way the three look together and so pleased the set really works thanks to planning it out on the computer. I think it really finishes off the lounge which I'll be doing a blog post all about to reveal the whole thing very soon. As well as the large poster prints I also chose a couple of the smaller prints as well just to dot around. I haven't actually decided where these might live but love them, the might go up in the spare room as part of a mini gallery wall. Again I chose gold frames for each of these. I especially love the bold Do Something print.
If you want to pick up some prints to transform your walls then I have a 25% discount code, but be quick its only valid for three days!! See below
