Despite the fact my office these days tends to be my sofa where I work on my laptop, I do still love a good pair of smart black work trousers. Not only do they come in handy for meetings or events, but I also love to wear them more casually at the weekend. This black bootleg pair from Wallis look gorgeous with a smart shirt or blouse but the bootleg shape works really well over trainers and as I live in trainers this is 100% how I wear them. I've added a cosy pink cashmere knit over the top which is just perfect for off duty chic and along with a lace vest I love how chilled and easy this outfit is and who would believe that at the centre of it, is a simple pair of work trousers?? Proof you can wear your work trousers at the weekend.

I don't think black has to be boring either. I love how this pair fits, they are that great balance of fitted but also comfy. I also really like the little gold hardware details that gives these trews that extra bit of jazziness.

For bootleg shaped trousers like these try wearing with trainers and a slouchy top like my look, but for more tailored trousers like peg leg style trousers I'd wear them with either Converse style pumps or casual flats. I'd then add a slogan tee and finish off with this seasons jacket; the check blazer. Perfect and a totally new look for your unloved workwear don't you think?

I'm sure you've all got pair of plain black trousers at the back of your wardrobe and hopefully this outfit shows you can get much more wear out of them than just Monday to Friday and I hope I've inspired you to try whacking yours on at the weekend.

Of course as the weather changes I'll be adding a very large coat on top of this kind of outfit but for now I'm enjoying that tiny change in the weather that means a jumper is needed. I'm off on my my cruise to NYC today so if you haven't checked out my What I'm Packing post then have  a gander! Also keep a beady eye on my instastories where I'll be sharing everything I'm getting up to.
