Gus & The Essex Muddy Dog Challenge

A few weeks ago me and Gus took part in the Essex Muddy Dog Challenge. It was all to raise money for Battersea Dogs Home and as both Gus and Eddie my dogs are rescues its a charity very close to my heart.  The lovely guys at LV Insurance who are one of the Muddy Dog Challenge supporters had helped me out with the first £100 of my sponsorship plus my registration fee AND they lent me a GoPro camera to film the whole muddy debacle. We’d chosen the 2.5k muddy obstacle course but you can choose 5k and your registration fee includes your Muddy Dog tshirt, doggy bandanna and race number.

On the day you will be given a set off time as starts are staggered through the day. The race is really chilled and so much fun and along your course you will encounter lots of muddy obstacles, some are dog and owner obstacles and some owner only!
You can totally take the course at your own speed and as the day we took part was VERY hot we were encouraged to take it slow. There are so many volunteers and helpers along the route and the atmosphere was so lovely and friendly I really enjoyed myself.

At the end you’ll be rewarded with a medal for you and a rosette for your pooch plus of course the knowledge that your sponsorship money will go to help the thousands of dogs and cats that Battersea help every year.

You can watch me and Gus take on the Muddy Dog Race below in my video and if you want to sponsor us its not too late!!! Find our Just Giving Page here which I’m keeping open just for a little bit longer as I really want to raise as much as possible.

You can also take part in a Muddy Dog Challenge still as they are running across the country until September. Find out more about them here.

Thank you so much to LV for getting me involved in this project and for their contribution to my sponsorship ALL of which will go to Battersea.

Oh my goodness he is totally adorable! My dog is a rescue dog too and I wish more people would think of getting their dogs from rescue shelters x

Aw well done Debs and Gus!! I did sponsor you for this and so glad I did as i love what Battersea do for rehoming. I’ve lived with dogs in our family, or owned myself, since I was 6 and have so much love for them. I own a lab who is 9 and this would’ve been fab for us to do.
Dear little Gus, god I bet you two were hot yet he tustve loved the cool down in the muddy water and then a wash. I loved the video, a fir old course too!. Bless his heart, you both did fab and so good raising money for BDH.
