It seems like an age since I had my legs out in a dress but I wanted to show you how to wear florals in Autumn. This floral frill number is a gorgeous Next piece and is so pretty. I first spotted it on the catwalk at the AW16 Press Day and had been eyeing up the website waiting for it to come online. I love the pattern, its a great length and the frill detail on the front and the cuffs is super cute.
The key to florals working for Autumn I think is darker colours and prints. When I spotted this on the catwalk I didn't even realise it was flowers in the print, I just thought it was a graphic design. In fact its lots of different flowers and its so colourful too but thanks to black base colour and the long sleeves its a fab choice for Autumn Winter.
I've teamed it with my new favourite camel coat. I haven't taken this coat off since it arrived and you'll spot it in a few posts over the next few weeks no doubt. Its a lovely soft brushed mohair fabric and camel is the perfect colour for Autumn I think. I have been wearing it with jeans pretty much but I love how nice it looks with this dress. I picked it in a size 10 and it fits great but is nice and over sized enough to fit a jumper under it too.
Layering up a floral piece, even something that's a but more summery with a thick winter coat is the perfect way to transition your blooming prints to the Winter months. I also like wearing a long sleeve polo neck under summer dresses to keep them wearable through Winter then add a big chunky cardi over the top! Perfect.
I'm wearing this dress a little bit more dressed up this weekend for dinner with friends so I'll be layering a biker jacket over it and wearing heeled boots rather than flats its such a versatile piece.
Let me know how you wear florals in Autumn? Are you a fan?
