THE THIRTY PLUS AWARDS

DUCK AND DRY SALON

Getting ready for the Thirty Plus Awards started at the gorgeous Duck & Dry Salon. Duck & Dry is a boutique blow dry and up do salon on the Kings Road.  The salon is gorgeous with amazing tiled floor, beautiful bar area and nail area too. They offer several signature blow dry's and up dos to choose from and right now they can also offer the addition of delicate feathers added into your look for a really cool festival feel. They also stock and sell their own hair styling range and if you caught my Favourites post I talked about how much I loved the Leave In Conditioner.

I was hoping they could work wonders on my hair and give me a look that was a little bit punky to go with my quite pretty dress for the awards.

I'd asked for a wavy and braided look rather than one of the signature looks and after a shampoo and blow dry I had two tiny braids put into the side of my hair to give a kind of faux undercut look. The look was finished with some soft tonged curls.

I loved my hair and the blow dry lasted a fairly hectic trek across London and by the awards that evening still looked great. What's more the braids and the waves lasted for a couple of days after the awards too.

Thanks so much to Duck & Dry and definitely do check them out if you are in London.

HOXTON HOTEL

Next stop was to check into my hotel for the night which was the Hoxton Hotel in Holborn. I'm going to do a full post all about the hotel but the room was cute and compact and the bathroom was gorgeous.

After getting ready pretty speedy at the hotel into my crochet dress and lace up flats I headed to the Charlotte Street Hotel for the Thirty Plus Awards.

The awards were presented in the cinema room by Hayley the creator of Thirty Plus and with lots of the judges announcing the winners.  I was so over the moon to win Highly Commended in the Next Big Thing Category. The evening was so lovely and so great to hang out with lots of similar age bloggers and see so many deserving winners. Well done to the Thirty Plus team for a fabulous night.

After the awards I headed back to my hotel with my amazing goody bag from the award sponsors The Body Shop for a bed picnic and some much needed chilling out. My feet were so sore from running around that day that I put some of the Body Shop Peppermint Foot cream on straight away!!

Thanks to all involved in the Thirty Plus Awards and congratulations to all the winners. It was so lovely to be part of such a positive event and I know that's how a lot of people felt.

Thank you also to everyone who voted for me, I'm so happy to have won the award I did and the whole evening gave me a great confidence boost about my blog. Plus my outfit was a huge success and lots of people amazed that my crochet dress was actually only £35!! You can shop it here.

Congrats on your win, I was gutted I missed the boat and didn’t get tickets as it would’ve been lovely to attend especially as so many of my blogging friends were nominated.

I loved your dress and isn’t The Hoxton Hotel fab, I use the Hoxton branch a lot for work.

Lovely post Deb. That salon looks so pretty and they did a fab job with your hair. You looked gorgeous. :)
I’m so glad the awards were a success. It’s nice to have something to be part of at (what can feel like) an old age.lol I was sad it was London based, but hope that they will, as promised expand themselves across the UK.
Many congrats again to winning, was so well deserved. :)
