Striped & Patterned Jars – DIY Post

In the third and last of my jar DIY posts I thought I’d show you a few ways to jazz up your old jars with some spray and some tape. If you havent seen my other Jar Diy posts you can read them here.
This time I wanted to create some shapes on the jars so here’s my Striped and Patterned Jar DIY.

As before make sure you clean your jars really well. Give them all a good wash in hot soapy water and if any label or sticky residue remains you can use some Sticky Stuff Remover  which will clean off all your excess label residue, but make sure you then wash your jar or tin again in soapy water as this remover is oil based. Dry off thoroughly.

I’m using a mix of styles of jars and I’m using some vinyl tape rather than masking as it comes off much easier, you can buy it at places like B&Q. Use the tape anywhere you don’t want your paint to be, try out different shapes and then spray your jars with a couple of light coats of primer.

I left one jar with no tape and sprayed this jar with primer and then a couple of coats of white. Once the white was dry I taped a zig zag design and then sprayed the jar with a couple of coats of gold. Remove the tape carefully and you will be left with a really cool gold on white design. You could also do stripes too with this method or any shape you can think of and tape.
I’m using my revamped jar to store all my makeup brushes on my dressing table.

On the other jars I taped different patterns including vertical and horizontal stripes of different widths. I sprayed them with my primer first and then a mix of gold, silver and copper

Use your snazzy new jars to store your stationery or scissors like me or find another cool use for your newly transformed jars.
